WHAT ARE
COMMONWEAL LOCAL COMMUNTIES?

At Commonweal, our mission is to provide a forum for civil, reasoned debate on the interaction of faith with contemporary politics and culture.  While we have long championed this forum in our pages, these discussion groups were developed to serve the needs of all who wish to participate in these pressing conversations on a decidedly local level.

Since 2013, readers and friends of Commonweal have gathered in their local communities for critical conversation on the issues that matter most.  Today, there are more than 40 groups already meeting around the country, and more in formation.

Each community determines the type of set-up and conversation that works best for them. For new communities, this guide to planning and facilitating discussion can help you get started.  As for the conversation itself, many use Commonweal's Conversation Starter Series while others set their own agenda.
