JOIN THE CONVERSATION

BY JOINING A COMMUNITY

At Commonweal, our mission is to provide a forum for civil, reasoned debate on the interaction of faith with contemporary politics and culture.  While we have long championed this forum in our pages, "Commonweal Local Communities" and "the Weal" discussion groups were developed to serve the needs of all who wish to participate in these pressing conversations on a decidedly local level.

LOCAL

COMMUNITIES

Since 2013, readers and friends of Commonweal have gathered in their local communities for critical conversation on the issues that matter most. Today, there are nearly 50 groups meeting around the country, and more are in formation.

the Weal

the Weal is Commonweal's community of young ('20's and '30's), literary-minded, politically engaged, and religiously curious friends. We started the Weal to encourage conversation amongst young readers of Commonweal, and to make them aware of opportunities, such as internships, writing workshops and events
